About the Body of Work:

Although I've been intentionally not showing my work from the past 35 years, I've been painting consistently since I was about 10 years old.  After completing my Fine Arts education and having a family, I found it much more rewarding being an entrepreneur and working in my studio without having to show or exhibit my work in traditional galleries.  That said, I've gone through many phases in my artistic career... from imaginary referential oils to plein air watercolors, to sketchbook drawings to sculpture, from wall reliefs to abstract painting; the commonalities can be seen as having an essence or uniqueness to them that speaks.  I focus my work on discovering things that are new to the world.  The best works develop a voice and the voice of the work tells me what it needs by way of listening to the work develop.  Knowing when to stop is only conscious thinking that is done with the best works.

Statement:

Working in multiple mediums in multiple styles allows me to explore many visual opportunities with the goal being to uncover a unique visual essence that has never been seen before.  "Listen more, speak less" is my philosophy in creating art.  I've always had multiple work stations for different mediums and each has a dozen works going on at any one time.  I toggle back and fourth between abstraction and representationalism.  Pure abstraction is my sincere devotion but plein air watercolors keeps me sharp in order to do the best abstractions.  Stripes and Orbs are my most rewarding styles and obviously when the work speaks back to you... well, that's what its all about.
